Royal Blue Wildlife Management Area, Campbell Co., TN (07 March 2009)

Went up to Royal Blue Wildlife Management Area in Campbell Co., Tennessee, to look for salamanders and the like.  Temperatures were warm in the upper 60s to lower 70s with party cloudy skies. However, not much was moving but we did have a few finds on the day.

Herps on the day:

     
     Pseudacris brachyphona (Mountain Chorus Frog) several calling males
     Rana sylvatica (Wood Frog) 3 adults and several egg masses
     Desmognathus conanti (Spotted Dusky Salamander) 1
     Eurycea longicauda longicauda (Long-Tailed Salamander) 1 metamorph
     Notophthalmus v. viridescens (Eastern Newt) 20+
     Pantherophis spiloides (Gray Ratsnake) 1
