Chicot State Park, Evangeline Parish, Louisiana (11 March 2011)

Today Bones and I headed to Chicot State Park about 45 minutes north of Lafayette, Louisiana.  We didn't find too much by way of diversity but the first snake of the year (a large 4.5 ft Timber Rattlesnake with 14 buttons) was a good way to start the trip.

Overall finds:

Crotalus horridus (Timber Rattlesnake) 1 adult
Anolis carolinensis (Green Anole) TMTC adults
Plestiodon fasciatus (Five-Lined Skink) 10 adults
Scincella lateralis (Ground Skink) TMTC adults
Pseudemys concinna (River Cooter) TMTC adults
Trachemys scripta elegans (Red-Eared Slider) TMTC adults and juveniles
Acris blanchardi (Blanchard's Cricket Frog) 20+ adults
Hyla chrysoscelis (Cope's Gray Treefrog) calling
Pseudacris crucifer (Spring Peeper) TMTC tadpoles
Lithobates clamitans clamitans (Bronze Frog) 1 subadult
Lithobates sphenocephalus utricularius (Southern Leopard Frog) TMTC tadpoles
